BIS (Biblical Studies)

BIS 101 History and Literature of the Old Testament (4 credits)
A survey of the content and basic teachings of each book of the Old Testament in its historical, geographical,  and cultural context with an emphasis on the substantiation and edification of Christian faith.

BIS 104 History and Literature of the New Testament (4 credits)
A survey of the content and basic teachings of each book of the New Testament in its historical, geographical,  and cultural context with an emphasis on the substantiation and edification of Christian faith.

BIS 201 Biblical Interpretation (4 credits)
An introduction to hermeneutics and the principles and practice of exegesis with an emphasis on observational skills, literary context, historical-cultural context, and principles of application. (Prerequisite: BIS 101 & BIS 104)

COM (Communications)

COM 341 Expository Preaching (4 credits)
A study on the development and delivery of expository sermons (Prerequisite: BIS 201).

HIS (History)

HIS 202 History of Western Christianity, 1517-present (4 credits)
A survey of the developments of Christianity from the Reformation to the present, along with a review of the history of the Church of God (Seventh Day).

LEA (Leadership)

LEA 101 Foundations of Ministry (4 credits)
An introduction to fundamental ministry foundations of personal spiritual formation, calling, walking in the Spirit, spiritual warfare, and relational spirituality.

LEA 201 Church Administration (4 credits)
An overview of foundational principles of church administration as they relate to leadership, CG7 polity, finance, and legal issues.

LEA 204 Leadership (4 credits)*
An introduction to biblical principles of Christian leadership and basic management and supervisory skills for effective ministry.

MIS (Missions)

MIS 291 Pioneer Missionary Training I (1-4 credits)*

MIS 292 Pioneer Missionary Training II (1-4 credits)*
(Prerequisite: MIS 291)

MIS 297 Medical Mission (1-4 credits)*

PAM (Pastoral Ministry)

PAM 131 Introduction to Pastoral Ministry (4 credits)
An introductory examination of the theology, philosophy, and methodology for effective pastoral ministry.

PHI (Philosophy)

PHI 204 Christian Ethics (4 credits)*
An exploration of the topic of what is morally right and wrong and the different means by which Christians must come to ethical decisions.

PSY (Psychology)

PSY 201 The Church's Role in Mental Health (4 credits)*
An examination of the role that the community of Christians is intended to play in strengthening the health of its members; a review of common mental health issues, including depression and anxiety disorders.

THE (Theology)

THE 201 Systematic Theology (4 credits)
An introduction to the foundational principles, themes, and categories of Christian theology. (Prerequisite: BIS 201)

THE 202 Intro to Church of God (Seventh Day) Doctrine (4 credits)*
A study of the doctrines held by the Church of God (Seventh Day) as set forth by the International Ministerial Congress and the North American Ministerial Council. (Prerequisite: BIS 201)

WOA (Worship Arts)

WOA 201 Prayer Ministry (4 credits)*
An introduction to the theology and practices of prayer, with an emphasis on listening to God, meditative prayer, crying out, intercession, and spiritual warfare.

*These courses will not be available until the 2012-2013 school year or later.
