About LifeSpring Online Our online courses bring LifeSpring to you through your computer. Each four-credit course is taught over the span of 16 weeks. Students have the option of taking most of these courses in one-credit sub-course increments. The first week of each sub-course is set aside as a “reading week” for textbook and scripture assignments. The remaining three weeks of each sub-course are devoted to class activities and assignments. The entire course takes place on a LifeSpring Online coursesite. Enrolled students will receive a user ID and a password one week before the course begins. (Please note that this is not the same as a course registration ID). Upon logging into the coursesite, students have access to all course material. Online students travel through the course material with a group of approximately 15 peers across the United States and Canada and an instructor. Each week provides activities that allow you to grow and interact with one another as you apply the material. Online discussion boards allow you to build friendships as you post comments to classmates. (There are no scheduled “discussion” times. You have the freedom to login and post at your convenience provided the posts are submitted prior to set due dates.) Students should plan on logging in a minimum of 3 times each week. However, when you login is completely up to you. It is recommended that students plan to login at least once at the beginning of each week and a few times during the latter part of the week.During the 2009-2010 academic year 6 courses (24 credits) will be offered through LifeSpring Online. While online courses give you greater flexibility in setting your own schedule, they require a high level of motivation and commitment. It is the students’ responsibility to make time to participate in the class each week. You should be very comfortable using e-mail, word processing programs and browsing the internet. A high-speed internet connection is also highly recommended. Although multiple learning styles are integrated in course design, online courses heavily rely on written communication (reading, email, discussion posts) in lieu of the oral communication that is a strong characteristic of traditional classes. Therefore, you should also be comfortable comprehending and expressing thoughts in writing. LifeSpring Online courses are currently available only in English. |
